Section 5 shall include a list of all the isolation valves located in the pressure-relief system piping which could isolate pressure relief valves in the system. The required position and the reason for the lock or the seal shall be included. Section 6 shall give details about the specific design solutions chosen for equipment, instrumentation and materials. The reasoning behind the specific design solutions shall also be given in this section, e.g. the reason for choosing a specific level control instrument, the specific compressor configuration, the specific heat exchanger configuration etc. Any limitations to the operation caused by the e.g. the material selection or e.g. the design capacity shall be explained in this section. This could be low or high temperature limitations, throughput limitations for heat exchangers, operating conditions which reduce the lifetime of an equipment unit etc. Section 7 shall include the relevant technical data, calculations and drawings not covered by a reference to a separate document in section 8.3. Section 8.2 shall be used to log the performed modifications affecting the described system design and operation. For a new built installation this section will be empty. For a modification this section shall describe the changes resulting from the modification only once, i.e. changes between the versions issued internally throughout the modification project shall not be commented. |
NORSOK Z-001 rationale | One process system engineering manual shall be written for each process system (e.g. oil separation system, gas compression system, open drain system, freshwater system, flare system, etc.). The objective of the manuals is to describe and document the design and operation of the system. |
